With the cost of office waste to UK businesses having been estimated at £15 billion a year*, and an average office typically wasting enough energy to make 1,000 cups of tea** per year, it is obvious that there is a real need to reduce our impact on the environment, and the workplace is an ideal place to start.
We can all identify opportunities for greater productivity and reducing waste in the office environment – this may be through improved building design, leasing equipment instead of purchasing, or seeking new ways to reuse and recycle.
At Business in the Community, we know that many of our member companies are keen to improve efficiency and reduce waste within their offices, and this network will be an opportunity for like-minded organisations to come together, explore opportunities, learn and share, and try out new ideas that will help to improve ‘circularity’ and efficiency within their offices.
The Circular Office Network is based on Business in the Community’s national Circular Office campaign, and tailored to suit Northern Ireland businesses. Participants will be encouraged to look at how they can drive greater resource productivity and waste reduction in their offices; and throughout their business operations, including procurement, employee engagement and in the supply chain.
Join us as we launch the Network on Thursday 9 November at Belfast Harbour Offices, directly after Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey Results Launch. During the event, there will be an opportunity to hear and discuss what the circular economy means for an office based organisation and Geoff Lane, Partner, Sustainability and Climate Change, at PwC will provide an overview of the Circular Office campaign and share insights from PwC’s own journey.
