Joanne Mehaffy - Business In The Community

Programme Manager, Work Inspiration, Place Team

Joanne has been with Business in the Community for nine years and is a Programme Manager for the Work Inspiration programme.

Funded by the Department of Education, the Work Inspiration Programme commenced in 1999. It is an employer-led campaign which makes work experience more meaningful, relevant and inspiring for young people in Northern Ireland. It bridges the gap between young people’s expectations of the world of work and business expectations of new recruits. By providing inspirational work experiences and careers activities that enthuse and encourage young people, allowing them to make more informed career decisions. We work with employers to manage these activities and assist in relieving some of the associated administrative burdens. We can assist in developing innovative business education led ideas that they may have. These inspirations combine a range of opportunities for young people that complement the delivery of the careers and employability curriculum within the schools.

In 2011 she was awarded the Education Links Award by Bombardier, this award celebrates the achievements of individuals that supported Bombardier education outreach activities helping them to create the next generation of aviation enthusiasts.

In the past Joanne has worked in Sentinus and NIBEP (Northern Ireland Business Education Partnership).
