Human Resources & Corporate Responsibility Manager, George Best Belfast City Airport

Stephen’s career started in Bombardier Aerospace in 1997, however he has been working in Human Resources at the airport for 20 years and in a management role for 9 years.

His role is to provide a generalist HR service to all managers and employees directly employed at the airport providing advice and support, managing employee relations, recruitment and selection and updating policies and procedures in line with best practice and legislation. Stephen also chair’s and facilitates the NI HR Managers Forum working with other HR professionals to share knowledge and best practice. Apart from his day to day HR duties he also is chair of the Airport’s Corporate Responsibility team which manages the Airport’s Community Fund.

Alongside his team, the Airport has been successful in winning major business awards over the past 12 months including; Aviation Industry ‘Airport Achievement’ Award and the ‘Right Place to Work’ Award at the Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards as well as the re-certification to the ‘CORE’ responsible business standard for 2018-2021 and improved GOLD level status.

Stephen completed a post graduate diploma in Human Resource Management and is currently a member of the Institute of Personnel and Development. Outside of the airport Stephen sits on the board of East Belfast Community Counselling.

In his spare time Stephen is a keen musician and plays the piano. He also enjoys reading, music and films and is an avid traveller who loves to visit new places.
