How does it work?

The premise is simple, businesses take over the running of a Cancer Focus NI shop for one day and compete against each other to make the most money for the charity. Teams also participate in fundraising activities in the run up to ‘take over day’, with the overall winner being crowned Challenge Champion.

Shop take-over day will be Friday 2 October 2020. This is the date on which businesses will be in the store.  There’s a little more to the Charity Shop Challenge than that – here are some of the key dates for your diary:

16 January 2020 – Team Leader Briefing event hosted by Cancer Focus NI. This will be a chance to hear directly from staff at Cancer Focus NI and Business in the Community and an opportunity to meet your opposition!  It will also be the launch of PR activities including press shots followed by official press release.

January 2020 – Let the games begin – teams are now free to start fundraising activities.

2 October 2020– Shop Take Over Day

TBC 2020 – The deadline for teams to submit all monies raised and submit applications for the different awards* up for grabs.

15 October 2020 – Celebration event, held at Cancer Focus offices to celebrate the achievements of all teams and announce the winners (we will have an overall winner as well as other categories)
