Facilitated by the Department of Justice and the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, this Link & Learn session aims to raise awareness of domestic abuse and how businesses can support staff who may be facing it.
In Northern Ireland, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men are affected by domestic abuse .
Domestic abuse represents approximately 20% of the overall crime reported to the Police Service of Northern Ireland, with an average of one report every 16 minutes¹.
The COVID pandemic resulted in a marked increase in calls to the Police Service of Northern Ireland in relation to domestic abuse. In addition, the current cost of living crisis could also exacerbate the issue with some victims becoming increasingly financially dependent on their abuser.
Employers have a responsibility to protect the health, safety and welfare of their employees. This session will give Managers and HR professionals the tools to recognise the signs of domestic abuse, introduce a domestic abuse policy in the workplace, and help raise awareness that domestic abuse can happen to anyone regardless of gender, age, or relationship.
How it works
