Our aim is to produce and distribute 20,000 face coverings across Northern Ireland for vulnerable members of society.
With the outbreak and impacts of coronavirus here in Northern Ireland, and recent policy decisions that make face coverings mandatory on public transport and in shops, the NI Big Community Sew has already made and distributed 20,000 face coverings, and with recent support from the Department for Communities, we aim to do the same again before the end of September.
We are seeking 10 volunteers for Friday 18 September at a Belfast location to help pack ready-made face coverings into boxes of 100, 200 and 500. This volunteering opportunity will also include boxing and labelling boxes to go to Community Organisations.
All precautions will be in place including, socially-distanced tables (one per volunteer), PPE and hand sanitisers at each work station. Pre-packed lunches and refreshments will be provided.
Volunteering time will be one full day – 9:30 am – 4:00 pm
