The circular economy is an economic model where materials never become waste. Instead of the traditional “take–make–waste” linear model, a circular economy designs products and services so that resources are kept in use for as long as possible, then reused, repaired, refurbished, remanufactured or recycled at the end of their life.

It is built around three core principles:

  • Eliminate waste and pollution by design – thinking about the full life cycle of products from the outset
  • Circulate products and materials at their highest value for as long as possible
  • Regenerate nature, for example by supporting renewable energy, regenerative agriculture, or restoring ecosystems

For businesses, the circular economy is not just an environmental concept – it is increasingly a strategic, financial and reputational issue. The circular economy helps businesses cut costs, reduce risk, meet climate goals and stay competitive by designing out waste and keeping resources in use.

About this webinar
This webinar is an introduction to the circular economy and it suitable for anyone interested in how and why they should implement circular thinking into their organisation. Over the course of an hour, we’ll help attendees to understand circular economy principles and how they can turn these into meaningful action within their business.

We’ll break down the key links between waste and climate impacts, share real-world examples, and highlight the practical circular solutions you can start exploring, right away.

Attendees will also benefit from a concise overview of the guidance and legislation relevant to organisations in Northern Ireland and will receive a Circular Economy toolkit, to support the webinar content.

This event is free for members and non-members of Business in the Community to attend, thanks to funding from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
