Stars & Stripes Day
Business in the Community, in partnership with National Museums NI, is calling on businesses with links to the US to celebrate American Independence Day by stepping out of the office and volunteer at the Ulster American Folk Park for the day.

‘Stars & Stripes Day’ is a brand-new initiative, sponsored by Qualitrol, which will take place on Wednesday 4 July to coincide with American Independence Day celebrations. It aims to help celebrate the cultural links between America and Northern Ireland by encouraging companies to come together for a day of employer supported volunteering at the Ulster American Folk Park, while supporting one of Northern Ireland’s most important heritage sites.
Stars & Stripes Day is the perfect opportunity for you to learn a new skill and get active for the day, volunteers will be involved in a range of exciting activities in support of National Museums Northern Ireland, for example:
- Supporting the delivery of the crafts programme including pioneer cooking, wood craft and barn dancing
- Participating in 18th century re-enactments and relive the signing of the Declaration of Independence
- Providing wayfinding assistance to the public
- Supporting the fields and paddocks in the New World site with gardening and collecting crops
Stars & Stripes Day is a fantastic volunteering opportunity and a great way to celebrate 4 July by making a real contribution to the Museum’s visitor experience on this important day in their calendar.
Volunteers will also have the opportunity to network over lunch at our free BBQ (well, 4 July wouldn’t be complete without one!) where we’ll be serving burgers, hot dogs and lots of other treats.
