110 blood donations…and first to visit the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service’s new College Street premises!

David Bassett, a retired Civil Servant from Dundonald, reached the amazing total of 110 blood donations when he was the first donor to visit the renovated College Street venue in February 2016.

David was 19 or 20 when he first started donating in 1970 in Belfast city centre and it has since become a very regular habit for him. In David’s own words:
“It costs nothing to donate blood and it’s good to give something to help people.”

The refurbished premises at College Street, Belfast are open for business on the first Thursday of every month from 9.30am to 6pm. The venue is now based on the ground floor for increased accessibility and has all new facilities for donors, improving both comfort and confidentiality.
If you work for a company in Belfast that has been considering hosting a blood donation session but don’t have a suitable site, the College Street premises can be used as a venue specifically for your own business. If you are interested, all that is needed are 100 staff members willing to enrol as donors.
