Antrim Action Cancer Group to hold Motorbike Run

Northern Ireland’s leading local cancer charity, Action Cancer is organising a mass motorcycle run on Sunday 5th July 2015 in the Glens of Antrim. The charity’s group of dedicated fundraising volunteers in the area are appealing to all motorbike enthusiasts in the area and beyond to come and show their support by taking part on the day.

The event begins at Chimney Corner Football Club with tea, coffee and registration from 10am, with riders leaving at 11am sharp for the Glens of Antrim run. Refreshments and sandwiches will be provided on return to the Football Club. A number of prizes will be available throughout the day for the first three registrants; a mystery prize and various raffle prizes including an overnight stay in the Slieve Donard Hotel. All riders are asked to pay just £5 per bike to take part.

Linda Majoury is a long serving member of the Action Cancer Antrim Group and is the driving force behind this event. She commented “We would love 100 riders to take part on Sunday 5th July and raise as much money for Action Cancer as possible. Cancer affects 1 in 2 people in our local community, men and women, young and old, so please come out and take part in this event in support of Action Cancer”

Action Cancer is the only organisation in the whole of the UK and Ireland to offer free breast screening to women between aged 40 and 49, and 70+, ages that are not covered in the NHS screening programme. The charity also provides a range of support services to anyone living with a cancer diagnosis, as well as those close to them, in the form of counselling, complementary therapy, positive living programmes, peer mentoring and life coaching. Health Promotion and MOT health checks are also available to the general public. All Action Cancer services are provided free of charge. The charity receives no government funding and relies on the support of individuals and local businesses to raise funds to provide its range of services.
