Danske Bank launches Christmas charity gift

Danske Bank is inviting its customers and members of the public to vote online for one of five local charities that they would like to see receive a £5,000 gift from the Bank in time for Christmas.

The five nominated charities were put forward by Danske Bank staff and it is now up to the public to vote. The online vote opened today and will close at 9am on Wednesday 16 December. The charity which receives the most votes during this period will receive the donation. The successful charity will be announced on Friday 18 December.

Tony Wilcox, Managing Director of Personal Banking at Danske Bank said: “As a local bank we are committed to supporting local communities in Northern Ireland. Together with our staff and customers we have raised over £1.3 million for five local charities in the last eleven years and we feel privileged to support another local charity this Christmas. We have been humbled by the invaluable work that the five nominated charities are involved in and wish them all every success in the process. ”

The five charities nominated by Danske Bank staff are; Alzheimer’s Society NI, Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology (CCRCB) at Queen’s University Belfast, Marie Curie, Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice and Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society (SANDS).

Lisa McIlvenna, Deputy Managing Director at Business in the Community added: “Danske Bank has demonstrated its commitment to supporting the third sector over the last decade and this Christmas gift will come as welcome boost for the successful charity.”

The Danske Bank Christmas Charity Gift initiative forms part of the Bank’s Community Programme which consists of its charity partnership with Age NI, charitable grants for organisations where staff volunteer and a number of financial literacy initiatives.
