eircom named the Right Place to Work 2015

eircom Business Solutions NI is named the Right Place to Work (Small Business) in the Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards 2015.  The Right Place to Work category recognises socially responsible organisations who have close links to charitable initiatives and who make a positive impact on employees and the community in which they are based.

The CR strategy at eircom Business Solutions NI, which is entirely led by staff, sets out to address real world challenges in the locality and continuously strive to identify areas where the company can make a practical, measurable social impact.  The company is committed to the skills development agenda through a ‘grow your own’ strategy, apprenticeship scheme and through voluntary work with organisations such as Young Enterprise.  They strive to promote health & wellbeing for their employees and have placed significant emphasis on this with initiatives such as free health checks, Meet the Expert talks, and encouragement of active lifestyles e.g. Cycle to Work and lunchtime tennis.

Mark Nixon, “We are thrilled to have won this particular award which represents not only  recognition but also an encouragement to continue and grow our CR programme.  The CR team and the rest of our colleagues who actively take part in our volunteering initiatives get a great sense of achievement in giving back to the community.  Activities such as our recent Give and Gain work with Business in the Community and our involvement in judging of the Young Enterprise Business Beginnings also foster team spirit and pride and we look forward to working more with these organisations as well as Action for Children and Special Olympics in the year ahead.”

Darren Lemon, General Manager at eircom Business Solutions NI believes that a sustainable business should look beyond financial growth and performance, and should also be measured by how the company contributes to society at large.  As such, the employee-driven CR strategy has become an integral part of the organisation.  “We hope that this achievement will also inspire other businesses to play their own role of promoting positive changes in their communities, something we are open to do through collaborations with all related stakeholders.”

Being awarded the Right Place to Work award further cements all the good work that has been done and the company’s continued commitment to the Northern Ireland community.
