Business in the Community newly-formed Sustainability Professionals Forum had its first meeting, hosted by Henry Brothers Ltd at Corrs Corner Hotel, bringing together 15 professionals working in the field of sustainability across various sectors in Northern Ireland.

Guest speaker, Peter Close from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, highlighted the need for the implementation of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) on sites across the province. The social value and long-term sustainability of the eco systems in our local communities can be greatly aided by the implementation of SUDS. Companies hoping to show measurable social impact on those communities long after completion of site works should seriously consider the investment of time and resources in SUDS.

This Forum will be held twice a year, hosted by forum members. The members will also set the agenda for future meetings. Business in the Community will engage relevant speakers to address future trends and provide information on upcoming events, workshops and training that members of the Forum will find useful.

The next Forum will be held in September 2018 under the theme of Technology Trends in Sustainability. If you would like a representative from your company to attend, please register your interest by emailing clare.mercer@bitcni.org.uk
