International Women’s Day – Inspiring Young Girls Conference

Pinsent Masons marked International Women’s Day with an innovative “inspiring girls” conference at its London office, for young women aged 14-16, from some of its existing and new partner schools around the UK.

Gill Warwick, HR & Operations Manager at Pinset Masons, Belfast attended the event with nine pupils and two teachers from Ashfield Girls’ High School in Belfast.

It was an exciting trip for the students some of whom had never been to London or even on a plane before. The aim of the day was to inspire the girls and encourage them to think about their own aspirations and career paths.

Representatives from Pinset Masons’ global partner charity, WE Charity (formerly Free the Children) were there and encouraged the girls to think about gender inequality around the globe and how they can play a part in helping to raise awareness to tackle the problem.

The girls took part in a speed networking session with some inspiring women from different industries who talked about their careers. One of the inspiring role models was Helen Richardson–Walsh, an Olympic gold medal hockey player, who spoke passionately to the girls about believing in yourself and working hard to achieve your goals. Another inspiring speaker was Spoken Word Artist, Siana Bangura, who treated the girls to some of her work.

Ashfield Girls High School had a brilliant day and left feeling inspired and uplifted by the various speakers.
