Print making offers endless possibilities for even very young children to explore and experiment with mark making and design. GreystonePrimary School, Six Mile Integrated Primary School, St. Comgall’s and Rowandale Primary contributed to the project.

Seacourt Print Workshop is an artist and printmaking studio who specialise in sustained high quality printmaking activities for the public, wellbeing groups and schools.    Emma Drury, Director at Seacourt said “We were delighted to have had the opportunity to work in partnership with BIA to introduce over 1000 primary school children and their teachers to new printmaking processes. Every child’s individual artwork was included and these collectively make a wonderful representation of the schools’ logos. The finished artworks are a colourful feature in the Departures Hall at Belfast International Airport and we hope they will subsequently be enjoyed in each of the four schools when they go back ‘home’ on permanent display.’

The project which was co-funded by Arts & Business NI was eight-months long and consisted of five elements: Teacher Training, Pupil Participation, creation of permanent artworks, display of artworks at BIA and then return of artworks for permanent display in participating schools. The wall hangings are now installed in Belfast international airport in the Core of the building so all passengers can see the impressive pieces of art, this will then be moved to each of the schools involved.
