Gordon Milligan, Translink’s Deputy Chief Executive received a prestigious Special Achievement award from the Chartered Institute of Professional Development at the annual awards ceremony held recently at Titanic Belfast.

Gordon has over 30 years’ experience in Human Resources, working in senior roles at organisations including Bombardier, Nortel and Dunbia Foods, before joining Translink in 2009.  During the past 7 years, Gordon has transformed Translink’s HR function through his strategic direction and passion for recruiting and retaining talent across all areas of the business.  In 2015 he was also appointed deputy Group Chief Executive at Translink.

Paul Gillen, Chairman of the CIPD said, “The task of considering the Chair’s award this year was extremely difficult.  In choosing Gordon, we recognised his work to champion the efforts of the Northern Ireland CIPD branch in meeting local members needs and in raising the profile of the HR profession.

The Chair’s Special Achievement Award is presented annually to an HR professional who has exemplified the strategic role of HR and who serves as a role model for their peers and within the profession in Northern Ireland.

We aim to recognise an individual who has a passion for excellence; whose work demonstrates impact and serves as a model for others; and who is an ambassador for the HR profession in the wider business community.

This category is not open for entries and is awarded by the Executive Committee of the CIPD Northern Ireland branch on the proposal of the Chairperson.  The CIPD Chair and Committee look forward to continuing to work with Gordon on the development of the HR profession in Northern Ireland and further afield.”

On receiving the award Gordon said, “It is a privilege to have received this recognition from CIPD.  I look forward to continuing to promote the strategic development of HR and highlighting the important role it plays in the workplace.”
