Bringing together employers from across the Greater Belfast area to support those who are unemployed and long-term unemployed. Helping people building the skills and confidence they need to gain and sustain employment.

Being out of work has a significant impact on people’s confidence, finances and future earning power. The Citywide Employers’ Forum brings together employers from across the Greater Belfast area to support those who face barriers to work. It helps them build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the workplace.

Many of those who are assisted by the Forum are disadvantaged by a lack of skill and/or qualifications. These employers devise strategies and initiatives to help job-seekers cross the bridge to the world of employment and economic independence.

Employers are drawn from sectors such as engineering; manufacturing; health; construction; call centres; retail, utilities, etc. They offer a range of initiatives and supports which include work sampling placements; mock interviews; company site visits; mentoring; motivational talks and customised pre-employment training programmes.

Increasingly, employers are recognising that by investing business expertise and resources in employability programmes, they are improving the circumstances of workless individuals, thereby investing in neighbourhoods as a whole. Such endeavours raise community aspirations, and reduce the likelihood of revolving-door worklessness.
