Advice NI’s weight loss challenge

Advice NI became interested in the £ for lb challenge as we have recently embarked on a three year strategy to improve the health and well-being of our team.

The business issue

Advice NI became interested in the £ for lb challenge as we have recently embarked on a three year strategy to improve the health and well-being of our team. We became aware of the £ for lb at a Business in the Community Wellbeing event and were inspired by the experiences of other organisations that have successfully completed the programme. We believed it would encourage and increase awareness of healthier eating habits.

What Advice NI did

Held a weekly £ for lb workshop and went through the presentations – weekly weigh ins

Impacts

  • 95% completed the programme
  • We lost a combined 153lbs and 103cms around our waist
  • Shared healthy recipes
  • Cut down on unhealthy foods in the office
  • A number of people increased their exercise routine and shared experiences – 3 are doing the couch to 5k, 2 are doing strength training, most are out walking more
    • “This was an excellent programme and everyone who followed it thoroughly enjoyed it. It was structure well and easy for people to engage with. We are delighted that it created a wider awareness of healthy eating within the organisation.”
