Baker McKenzie brings diversity to Belfast

Diversity is in Baker McKenzie’s DNA. Operating across many cultures all over the world in 77 offices and 47 countries, Baker McKenzie is a truly global organisation.

Almost 300 employees are based in the Belfast office, in a huge range of roles – from Business Development to Finance, Technology to HR – with colleagues collaborating with offices all around the world. Locally and globally the Firm prides itself on its innovative approach and in Belfast thanks to the variety of roles available, Baker McKenzie is re-shaping the way a ‘job with a law firm’ is perceived in Northern Ireland.

Baker McKenzie places great emphasis on diversity and inclusion within its core business practices. It recognises that its employees’ differences help the law firm to work fluently across borders, cultures, and practices on a global scale. From Bogota to Belfast, it is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse culture that celebrates equality across gender, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation, as well as, personal and professional success.

The local Baker McKenzie Diversity and Inclusion Committee is led by a team of passionate employees who regular consult with their colleagues to ensure all activities are relevant and effective. Initiatives have included involvement in Business in the Community’s Gender project, and establishment of an LGBT network and committee.

The Baker Ally pledge has been signed by over 70% of employees and it was the first law firm to take part in Belfast Pride Event.
