Delta Packaging – a responsible business

Established in 1981 and based in West Belfast, local employer Delta Packaging has grown from a small workshop into a purpose-built 17,000 square foot factory.

Background

Delta Packaging manufactures a broad range of branded retail packaging for customers across the dairy, cereals, prepared meals, biscuits, confectionery, added value meat and ice cream sectors.

What Delta Packaging did

Supplying consumers worldwide, Delta Packaging strives to be the market leader in printing carton board through continued investment in world-class, custom-built machinery. By actively reducing water, energy, board and landfill waste, the company is more competitive and responsible to the environment.

Delta Packaging undertook machine energy mapping to allow for focus-driven energy savings to be delivered throughout the factory. These are being reviewed by top line management via ISO 50001 communications and from site Key Performance Indicators.

In 2015, Delta Packaging also purchased a second large format printer to deliver larger sheet sizes in lithographic printing. There is a CAD department onsite to minimise the percentage of board waste and maximise impressions per sheet, leading to less print and die cutting times. The larger sheet sizes then enable the company to deliver higher efficiencies in both printing and die-cutting therefore reducing production time.
