Henry Brothers, Wellbeing at Work | Business in the Community NI

Henry Brothers

Henry Brothers Ltd is a leading privately-owned Construction and Civil Engineering Company specialising in commercial, custodial, defence and education projects throughout the UK.

Background

Henry Brothers is an integral part of the Henry Group which employs 260 people, whose core activities compliment and support our construction business.

Henry Brothers was founded in 1976 by our Chairman, Jim Henry, as a small construction company. Under Jim’s leadership the Company has grown from humble beginnings to one of Northern Ireland’s top construction companies and is now successfully competing against large multinational construction companies operating throughout the UK.

What Henry Brothers did

Henry Brothers committed to making a positive impact on the wellbeing of its workforce and the wider community and have strong reporting and measuring structure in place to manage and monitor activity. It recognised the need for improving staff health, wellbeing and engagement and made this a main focus over the past two years.

The company has completely reviewed the way it communicates with staff. Extensive use of feedback forms and focus groups within all areas of its business has provided a transformation approach. As part of Henry Brothers Re-Brand process, staff focus groups were set up to engage and consult with staff on how they viewed the company and what it meant to them. Their input played a key role in how the brand looks today including the core values which underpin the business.

Henry Brothers understands that wellbeing at work is not the same for everyone, so having staff involved in shaping initiatives and learning from experiences of others and from public reports/trends has ensured success.

The Group’s CR Strategy – SENSE – is widely communicated across the company with employee health and wellbeing a key consideration.
