What Henry Brothers did

Henry Brothers strives to improve environmental performance through embracing the three pillars of sustainable development wholeheartedly and have flourished over the years with many successes in the environmental field, and are fast becoming one of Northern Ireland’s Green Leaders.

It has worked to further the Sustainability Agenda through its bespoke Education Programmes, focussing on three main areas; educating the workforce and supply chain; the education sector and the local community.

Its most challenging and influential initiative is its ‘Greening the Supply Chain Project’, currently in progress on its £50 million ‘Flagship for Sustainability Project’ Maghaberry Prison. Designed to BREEAM ‘Excellent’ it encompasses innovative features such as modular construction; Solar PV panels; and Biomass boilers. Its ‘Research & Development Programme’ sponsors students through work placements with an established link with Queen’s University Belfast through which it has employed two full time advisors. On the social end of Sustainability “Sustaining the workface”, it researched the best methods to engage young people and to encourage a career in the construction industry.
