What does a typical day or week in your role look like?
A typical day in my role involves maintaining the high standards of the Group Environmental and Energy management systems and finding ways to continuously improve. This typically involves liaison with all sites across the Group on topics such as their energy performance, water usage, waste volumes and compliance with their environmental permits. Supporting the group sustainability strategy and maintaining a good working relationship with external bodies such as regulators, auditors and other partners are other important parts of the role day to day.
What part of your job do you find most interesting or exciting?
The wide variety of work across different sites and operations.
What advice would you give to pupils who are interested in a career in sustainability?
Be open minded and take the opportunities that come your way. You can make a real positive difference in all types of industries.
