What does a typical day or week in your role look like?
I oversee Responsible Business in FMCG Business that has 6 factories, 1 warehouse and 4 offices. I coordinate the group response to Environmental Management, Carbon Reduction and Biodiversity working with colleagues across the group to support them in reducing the environmental impact of their site. I also provide customers precise sustainability data so they can have confidence that we are delivering on their sustainability commitments.
What part of your job do you find most interesting or exciting?
Discovering new ways of reducing environmental impact at a site level by supporting teams to think about things differently and then sharing those wins with the other sites.
What advice would you give to pupils who are interested in a career in sustainability?
Sustainability is a combination of numbers and stories – so when you are studying seek opportunities to analyse data and then use that analysis to make a compelling argument that will encourage the reader to take action.
