What does a typical day or week in your role look like?
A typical working week in my environmental role involves visiting construction sites across Ireland and the UK, while also attending meetings to discuss environmental issues that make our projects more sustainable. Part of my job includes processing sustainability data for our company carbon footprint and helping to introduce new ideas, such as using solar-powered accommodation on projects. Designing and delivering environmental training is also very enjoyable. Every week is different in construction, which makes the job interesting and varied.
What part of your job do you find most interesting or exciting?
I love the flexibility of my sustainability role in construction, which includes balancing office and construction site-based activities.
What advice would you give to pupils who are interested in a career in sustainability?
Be curious about sustainability and if possible, complete some work experience/volunteering in a sustainability role.
