What does a typical day or week in your role look like?
I am a member of the Dowds ESG forum, our mandate is to steer the business through net zero through our roles in the business. I also manage carbon reporting within the business and look after the BITC NIEBS annually. My other role is leading the delivery of Dowds Smart Meter, which is a Smart Metering system that allows business to understand and manage how they use energy and water.
What part of your job do you find most interesting or exciting?
I enjoy the task of trying to understand how a our business and our clients use energy, to help them reduce their consumption, carbon footprint and operating costs.
What advice would you give to pupils who are interested in a career in sustainability?
It is a diverse field with so many areas of expertise. Keep an open mind and read up and get an understanding of what it is. But they will never stop learning.
