What does a typical day or week in your role look like?

My role is varied, which is a big reason why I enjoy it! Some days I am delivering training or offering environmental advice to businesses. This can be in person and online and it focuses a lot on climate and energy. I manage the Generation Green Schools programme, which means I work with my colleagues to schedule the sessions in schools, create the training materials and visit schools to deliver our talks. There is also a balance of desk based work, attending meeting with my team, replying to emails and tracking the project of our projects on excel and online platforms. Every day looks different!

What part of your job do you find most interesting or exciting?

I enjoy that a lot of my job is people-facing and I get to travel around NI to visit different schools and businesses. I learn a lot from the other organisations we work with.

What advice would you give to pupils who are interested in a career in sustainability?

Follow your interests, be open to changes along the way, and stay focussed – there are many different paths you can take to reach your end goal.
