Biology, Chemistry and Maths.

What course did you study?

Environmental Biology, and a PhD.

What does a typical day or week in your role look like?

Looking for protected wildlife, surveying habitats (counting plants and animals), helping farmers b’é more environmentally friendly, education about nature and climate, talking to politicians and civil servants about nature and how important it is. Doing research and presenting facts.

What part of your job do you find most interesting or exciting?

The mix of fieldwork and policy.

What advice would you give to pupils who are interested in a career in sustainability?

Get involved in local eNGOs and volunteering. I volunteered with Ulster Wildlife in my late teens and it is great to be working there now.
