Why Inclusive Recruitment of Disabled People Matter

According to the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland, we have the lowest employment rate for disabled people in the UK, with just 36% of disabled people in employment, compared to 80.3% of people without a disability. Indeed, sickness and disability make up 43% of people who not participating in the labour market.

Ensuring fair access to employment for disabled people is essential for building a diverse, skilled, and innovative workforce. Many individuals face barriers to employment, despite having the talent and experience to succeed.

The Opening Doors blueprint can be utilised by organisations seeking support to make recruitment process more accessible to disabled candidates, from job advert through to onboarding.
