About this event

The Seeing is Believing programme was born from a simple but powerful belief that the best way to close the gap between the boardroom and the community was to take business leaders out to the communities themselves. The power of the visits is not just in seeing and believing but also in how to turn that experience into ‘doing’.

This Seeing is Believing visit will give senior business leaders a first-hand understanding of nature and biodiversity loss in Northern Ireland and the role business can play in driving recovery.

Through on-site visits and expert-led discussion at Belfast Harbour, Lough Neagh and a quarry working with nature, attendees will see first-hand  real-world examples of environmental challenge and nature-positive solutions.

The visit will deepen understanding of biodiversity risks and opportunities, showcase best practice in restoration, and support leaders to translate insight into practical action, collaboration and long-term business value for nature, people and place.

Throughout the day, senior business leaders will explore the realities of nature depletion in Northern Ireland, hear from organisations working to restore biodiversity, and witness first-hand the impact that targeted, collaborative action can have.

Through site visits, conversations and shared reflection, we hope to deepen understanding of the critical role the business community can play – by safeguarding and enhancing nature, investing in resilient ecosystems, supporting communities, and integrating biodiversity into everyday decision‑making.

The event will start and finish at Belfast Harbour Commissioner’s Office. Transport, lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.

Seeing is Believing visits are invite-only and limited in size, to ensure a high-quality, focused experience. We bring together a small group of senior business leaders, prioritising engaged member organisations and a mix of sectors. This curated approach supports open discussion, shared learning and, importantly, action. If you are interested in being invited to a future SIB, please contact environment@bitcni.org.uk
