Asda launches new adaptive clothing range for young people with disabilities

As the first major retailer to launch this kind of range, Asda has this year extended the product range to include more items of clothing with specific needs in mind.

Asda has launched an adaptive clothing range in support of independent dressing for those with disabilities, from babies through to adults.

The collection of casualwear is specially adapted to make independent dressing easier for those with additional needs and reduced mobility, and is produced in support of BBC Children in Need.

The official tees which have an eye catching design by illustrator Liz Pichon of Tom Gates fame, are 100% soft to touch cotton and are sensory kind, with soft thread seams for extra comfort to avoid any irritation against the wearers skin.

The Adaptive Bodysuit is available from first size up to 4 years. The envelope neck and press stud fastening make for easier dressing and a cut out detail allows it to be adaptive for medical needs including feeding tubes.

Hidden hook and loop fasteners on the necklines make slipping sweatshirts and tees on and off more comfortable, whilst higher backs and longer legs ensure a level waistband and perfect leg length when seated.

For everyday dressing, a cute Pudsey sweatshirt and jogger set features a soft ribbed neckline, hook and loop shoulders on both the top and bottoms for ease of getting on and off, and hook and loop fastenings at the ankles to allow for leg braces or support for the most comfortable fit and is available right up to age 16 years.

Fabric labels have been removed from all garments and replaced with printed versions to avoid potential irritation and any discomfort for children with sensory needs.

Buying Manager for George, Vicki Radford said, “We continue to build on our adaptive wear collection every year, learning from our customers what they need specifically for their children, and how we can make them feel more comfortable. We want these pieces to be competitively priced and affordable and allow their children to wear fun cool clothes same as their friends.”

The adaptive range is available to buy online and in Asda stores across the UK.
