JP Corry becomes a JAM Card first

Demonstrating its commitment to customer service excellence, JP Corry is the first builders’ merchants in Northern Ireland to become JAM friendly.

The JAM Card (Just A Minute) is a pioneering initiative created by the NOW Group, a social enterprise supporting people with learning disabilities and difficulties into employment. The initiative allows those with communication barriers to discreetly tell others they simply need a little more time, in a simple, effective, non-verbal manner. The JAM Card was initially created a credit card sized card and has since developed into a digital app.

With customer needs at the forefront of JP Corry, over 260 staff across 17 branch outlets have completed training, equipping teams with the skills and expertise to provide a consistent and welcoming customer experience and further strengthening the company’s promise to ensuring an inclusive, friendly workplace where each and every customer feels at ease.

Laura Wray, Human Resources Manager, JP Corry commented:

“Being recognised as a JAM friendly organisation is something we are extremely proud of and a vital step in making our business more inclusive. Over 260 staff across our network are now best placed with the knowledge and consideration to provide a first class service to customers who might need just a little more time and empathy. The e-learning from NOW Group was very effective in providing our business with a more encompassing and flexible approach to engaging with our full customer base, to provide them with service excellence.”

A representative of the NOW Group commented,

“We are thrilled to have JP Corry as part of the JAM Card family. JP Corry is one of the largest building suppliers in Northern Ireland, so it’s brilliant to see the organisation is as committed to inclusion as we are. The JAM Card training we provide was a great success and equips staff to better understand how to provide supportive customer service and recognise those with hidden disabilities.”
