University’s Chief People Officer takes up mantle for Workplace Leadership Team

Business in the Community (BITC) is delighted to announce that Damian McAlister, Chief People Officer from Ulster University has been appointed to lead the BITC Workplace Leadership team for the responsible business network.

Business in the Community (BITC) is delighted to announce that Damian McAlister, Chief People Officer from Ulster University has been appointed to lead the BITC Workplace Leadership team for the responsible business network.

Damian comes to the team with a wealth of experience. Having taken up his current University role in December 2020, he was previously the Director of People and Culture with the University which he joined in February 2018. Prior to this, Damian was the Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development with the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and Human Resources Director for the Northern Health and Social Care Trust. He also spent 18 years working within the NI Civil Service in a number of Government Departments.

Stephany McConnell, Head of Workplace for BITC says: “Having recently joined BITC myself, it gives me great confidence to know that Damian has been involved with the organisation for many years. He is already bringing solid guidance to this team having led an informative discussion with a variety of companies around the return to the office, being involved in the launch of our Race at Work project and sharing how employers can support older workers at a three-nation conference. I look forward to working with Damian across a range of topical issues such as race, mental health and physical wellbeing.”

The Workplace Leadership Team is designed to convene a range of HR professionals from all sizes and sectors of business in Northern Ireland. These leaders bring with them many years of experience and they pool their ideas and thoughts to help bring about significant change for workplaces, employers and employees.
