Head of Community Programmes
Denise Cranston is currently the Head of Community Programmes with Business in the Community and is responsible for leading the Communities team.
Denise has over twenty years’ experience supporting employers to develop best practice in relation to responsible business practice. In her current role she is working with employers throughout Northern Ireland and manages a diverse portfolio of programmes which links the skills and expertise of BITC members companies into the Community, Voluntary & Social Enterprise sectors.
Denise has also worked in the rural community sector with community groups and farm families to build their confidence, help them access funding and promote good community development working practices. She also facilitated Community Development Plans for rural villages, and has been involved in evaluating Carer Strategies for the Health & Social Care sector. In May 2013 Denise was invited to be the UK representative, and present at an EU Integration conference in Vienna.
Denise is a former Trustee and Chair of CAUSE, a local charity working to support people who care for someone with a severe mental health illness. She also helped to establish the Richhill Community & Arts Association and was their Chair for the first 4 years.
She has led and participated in 6 Habitat for Humanity International Women’s build projects working in Africa, Thailand, America and more recently India in March 2017.
The Communities team supports business to invest in the community to tackle key social issues through the provision of advice and guidance, peer learning, toolkit development and thought leadership.
