Climate Change and Carbon Footprint top of the agenda for new Business in the Community Chair
Chris Conway, Group Chief Executive, Translink, has been appointed as the new Chair of the responsible business network, Business in the Community Northern Ireland (BITCNI). The Chair is instrumental in driving the responsible business agenda, encouraging their organisation and others to take positive action to make NI a better place to work and live. The New Decade, New Approach deal focuses on growing the economy, health, education, housing and tackling climate change as priorities of the restored Executive.

Business in the Community Northern Ireland (BITCNI), the responsible business network, has appointed Translink Group Chief Executive Chris Conway as its new Chair.
Mr Conway brings the benefit of extensive international business experience and a passion for tackling climate change and reducing carbon footprint to the role.
Chris said, “As we enter this new decade, it has never been more incumbent on business and government to work together to tackle some of our biggest societal and environmental issues. Businesses in Northern Ireland are in a position to take action that makes a real difference to their people, the planet and the places where they operate, and I’m a firm believer that they have an obligation to do so.
“As Chair, I aim to drive forward the great work of Business in the Community and challenge organisations to identify areas where they can make improvements and take action that’s vital for a sustainable and prosperous future for Northern Ireland.”
The announcement of the restored Executive also brings opportunities for responsible business, Chris noted that, “It’s very encouraging to see the restored Executive in Northern Ireland focusing on many of the big issues that BITCNI addresses in its strategy. The New Decade, New Approach deal outlines commitments to tackle climate change, and prioritises growing the economy, health, education and housing – key priorities for BITCNI. Under this new approach, our network of responsible businesses has a real opportunity to work together and make a meaningful difference. It’s a very exciting time for me to be taking on the role of Chair.”
