Business in the Community Northern Ireland (BITCNI) supports organisations to reduce their scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Through the Climate Action Programme, we help businesses take meaningful steps towards net zero.

How the Climate Action Programme works

We recruit Climate Champions – larger organisations already committed to reducing their emissions – to support SMEs in their supply chain to begin or accelerate their climate journey.

Over three to four months, participating SMEs will:

  • Understand what climate action looks like, through Carbon Literacy Training
  • Measure their carbon footprint, through two half-day advisory workshops
  • Plan for the future with a bespoke climate action plan, developed in partnership with a BITC Environmental Advisor
  • Commit to change by signing the Climate Action Pledge
  • Connect with a network of Northern Ireland business leaders

What is a Climate Champion?

A Climate Champion is a larger organisation taking proactive steps to reduce their climate impact. By supporting SMEs in their value chain through this programme they address their scope 3 emissions and contribute to a wider movement for change.

There are currently places available on an upcoming Climate Action Programme in partnership with Danske Bank.
