Business in the Community’s (BITC) suite of early intervention programmes has supported young people for more than two decades, starting with Time to Read and now bolstered by Time to Code and Time 2 Count. All programmes are supported by a bank of interested, inspiring and enthusiastic volunteers recruited and trained by BITC and AccessNI checked. The programmes operate across Northern Ireland.
A key ambition for all three initiatives is to improve children’s overall ability levels, boost their confidence and self-esteem, and help them achieve their full potential. The programmes also help inspire young people about future careers and the importance of the skills they are learning for different jobs.
By focusing on numeracy, digital, and literacy skills, these programmes provide children with the necessary tools and resources to succeed in school and in life. By investing in early intervention programmes like these, Northern Ireland is helping to create a brighter future for its children and communities.
We are currently seeking volunteers from all of these initiatives (please complete the form below):

Inspire the future workforce with a Workplace Visit
We’re looking for companies who can inspire children to understand the world of work. Options can include: hosting a workplace visit for primary school pupils, or why not help us develop a library of online resources that will help young people understand the many job roles and workplaces around Northern Ireland. This could be through storyboards outlining staff careers, a short video of different staff members explaining their role/career path or a virtual tour.
For more information, email Ciara Mulgrew, or call 07467 147805.
